Hey Lisa.
I know I am very happy with Superior Drummer.
When I first got it I was so clueless about the whole thing. Had to do a lot of searching on the internet for help but once I got the main gist of it, it went well from there.

The vex packs are great! I have a number of them. I took a while to figure out how that worked too...LOL!!
Maybe one day though you can look into Superior. I am just so happy with the real drum samples with both Superior drummer & BFD2.

Take care Lisa,
KIm :)

I'm surprised that you are able to actually download Superior Drummer because it's such a big file! I had to buy mine & get it shipped. Please let me know how things go & be patient with it. Don;t be like me & expect to know everything at once! lol!! Just let me know if you have any questions.

Ok Kim here comes the questions!!!! LOL
I am going to by a new laptop dedicated just for my drums, you said you are using iMac, which one?
Do I need to buy something to run the computer to the module? I've noticed none of my computers have a midi input on them just USB ports....I am so lame, I can't even figure out how to plug the computer to the drum module!!! LOL

HELP!!! PLEASE!

Hey Lisa....
OK, I'm ready....lol!!

1) I use a desktop iMac, this one here except I have the 20" version: http://www.apple.com/imac/ however, you can use a PC of course, just make sure you have a good amount of RAM (I upgraded to 4 GB, 3 is fine & you could try 2 GB although I'm not sure the performance will be up to speed. BY the way, you can use a laptop too.

2) Yes, you need to buy a USB Midi Interface to connect the midi from the back of your Roland module to USB on your computer. This is the one that I use: http://www.roland.com/products/en/UM-1EX/

Don't feel lame. I started out feeling just like that!

Oh yah, you should also get an 'audio interface' for your computer. This helps so that you do not have any lag time between hitting a drum & the sound coming out.

Hope that helps for now.

Thanks Kim!!!
What audio interface do you use? I have read that Firewire is a good one.
And I thought I had a lot of wires and gadgets hooked up to my drums now!!! I have a feeling I will never get untangled again!!! LOL

I use the Duet by Apogee. It's made specifically for the MAC though. It doesn't work with PC's. I do believe an audio interface can also be called a 'sound card'
Here's a bit of advice: http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_for_the_home_studio.htm
& http://www.tweakheadz.com/audio_interface_fw_comparison_chart.htm

You also can check on the forum for Superior Drummer: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/
By the way, There is not much more to hook up to your V-Drums really.

Hope this bit more helps for now :)
