I don't know if that's quite accurate. It's my favorite groove. It was adapted from something Steve Jordan played with one of the many artists he's performed with. He's one of my favorite drummers. His feel is just unbelievable.

Jessica,
You're right. That's a great groove. Have you been able to use that in anything you play with your groups yet? Definitely a groove that will have people moving to it. I'm picturing a place full of people moving their heads and hands and feet to the beat even while sitting still (and probably not realizing they're doing it) (if that makes any sense!) Very nice!

First congratulations : it's groovy, sounds are well balanced for a funky beat ( Do you know about styles specifics balance of sounds? If you don't i'll be please to tell you about ;) and you play relax which is very important !

But there's a problem in it : tempo! Are you working with a click/metronome? Cause there are some disruptions in your groove that's cut the groove in fact. Do you here them when you watch the video? If you don't try to just beat the tempo clapping your hands and you'll see what i mean.

And finally, i'm impressed by your courage to film yours performances and offer them to the critics of others. It's brave and you'll be rewarded in the future cause it will make you go forward than alone in your basement ;)
