- I got hooked on rockband and bought a TD9, which has been upgraded drastically since! Guess you could say I am a drum addict!

- An upgraded TD 9K. 12" snare, 3-10" toms, VH11 HH, 13" crash , 15" ride and a 12" Bass and also a J5 box so I can play rockband!

No way you can call yourself technically challenged if you can even conceive of putting together something like that. One of the guys in the band did that with his pal in the USAF. They did their parts separately and then combined them via some magical program and the internet. I guess it's done all the time when you think about recording studios and how they put all the different tracks together. Quite a project you have in mind there.
I like the sound of your old band. Actually that's why I had originally picked Angi as singer because she had done mostly karaoke and I thought that would make for less ego. And I guess to some extent it did, but I had no control over what could change. If only I had nieces who could sing LOL - actually I do have one, but she's more of a choir voice - soprano-ish. Maybe I could adopt the next singer so there'd be family ties. Ok - so I'm going a little nuts today. Good luck with your project, but don't push yourself on the other styles of music right now if you're having fun with the Beatles - there's no law that we have to instantly know all types of music. Why not work on something you love? It's not like you're never going to do other music. Enjoy!

Feel like I haven't been on the site in ages. The new "band" is shaping up. Have my new bass player, a lead guitar and we were just joined by a rhythm guitar last week. We picked out about 10 songs to begin with: Twilight Zone(Golden Earring), White Room (I'm trying to get it more like the cd than I have before), Wonderful Tonight (Clapton), Gloria (Van Morrison), Midnight Hour & Mustang Sally (Wilson Pickett), Born Under a Bad Sign (Cream) and a couple more. Once we all start practicing the same song, we should start sounding better. It seems like I work on two songs, bass works on two others, lead guitar works on two others and of course rhythm is brand new. At least we're getting in a lot of practice. Of course, some of the songs we can all fake our way through. Just don't have all the bells and whistles in the right places yet. My plan is to work on a lot of different stuff and when it starts sounding like it's shaping up, then we'll worry about snagging a singer. Singers don't usually like to show up till it's almost time to play out. Of course, the ideal would be to find maybe a keyboard player/singer. It's on my wish list, anyway. Apparently the rest of us can't sing. I watched a band the other week that had four out of their five members that could sing (really well, too). I was thinking there oughta be a law that they have to share that talent with other bands. LOL

- Hi Lisa! Well, that snare looks and sound beautiful, and I completely understand why you'd feel like a kid waiting for Santa! Your reading skills are very good. I absolutely love the Latin style of drumming. I have some notation that I'd worked on earlier that, for me, required some interesting interactions between the snare, cymbal, hi hat and bass-really challenging coordination stuff that, when I finally got it down, sounded really cool! That, and jazz, are uncharted territory for me. You're right about the use of one tom; you can get downright creative with fills, just out of necessity. I always feel my fills are lacking, because they don't utilize more "drummerly" types of fills, like using rudiments and certain patterns. Then, I realize that, while it's cool and educational to learn some of those types of fills, it just means I sound like everyone else. That's not bad at all, but my wish is to be creative and just come up with what I can. I'm still sounding a little like a thunderstorm at times, but I try to come up with new stuff. You don't seem to miss a detail, and those details really add to the song, so it's better not to leave them out. If those are your new drums, how do they differ from your previous set? Another fun video. I'm going to have to get my computer upgraded one of these days so I can watch the hits in real time. My computer blurs things so I can't see the hands as they hit the drums. I think I could learn a lot seeing things in real time. This video reminded me that I don't have to be hitting a cymbal - high hat or other - every minute of a song. Sometimes I forget that. Thanks for posting it.
I think I've got a bass player I can work with now. He's easy to get along with, humble about his playing abilities and (small world) it turns out we both went to the same high school outside of Chicago. He was a year ahead of me. Odd to meet him in North Carolina. We've got a jam set up for next week Sunday.with a guitar player I found on line. And other possibilities from Craigs List and my blues club posting. A little more upbeat this week!

So here I tell you to look at your own topic!! I'm glad that I know who you are now on the vdrum forum. What's funnier is that when I saw the pic used for that thread on vdrum forum, I did have a quick 1 second thought that that could be you!! haha!!
I know there is a lot of tweaking you can do with articulations etc on Superior drummer. Quite honestly, 'grandaddy' on the forum talks about all this articulation tweaking & I have no idea what he is talking about sometimes!!
I really need to look at my SD2 manual a little closer as I try to figure things out myself too much :)
I hope that the adjustments you made is enough. If not, I would email Support at Toontrack. They are really good about answering & would know best.
Let me know how that all goes as I hate to hear that you are hardly using it for that reason :(
