Hey Ladies and maybe some Gents?

I'm taking a writing class this semester where we focus on writing on topics relating to our field of study. My blog is about being a female percussionist and the issues that we are faced with on a regular basis. I would love to get some insight from others like myself. Please check out my blog athttp://turningthebeataround.blogspot.com

Let me know what you think!

Hi Zaneta! I love your thesis. I've loved the drums, and music, since I was a tiny child, and the drum was really my first instrument, come time for me to choose an instrument in school at age 8, it was the clarinet. We had one in the house, so perhaps that was part of it, but the other aspect was-girls really didn't choose the drums! This was the early 70s. The drum bug wouldn't leave me; at age nine or ten, I picked up sticks again, and got to play a drum roll "solo" during the choir's performance. I almost didn't make it-I had to teach myself a press roll. At first, it was tough, and the boys who were in the drum group were snickering at me. I left the drums for many years after, until I was an adult. It's only within the last year and a half that I've been really playing. I love it, and it has become a part of who I am. It always was, really, I'd just never acknowledged it, and felt silly following through with it-a middle-aged woman, playing drums-but after awhile, I didn't care what anyone thought. Good luck on your topic-it was very thought-provoking! Take Care!-Jessica G.
