Hi Tara-I know what you're talking about. Sometimes it takes the perfect combination of conditions in order to make the wonderful happen! It's great that you kept your vision and never stopped. It'll come back to you, faster than you'd every believe. Keep on playing, and take care!-Jessica G.

How long have you been drumming?
15 yrs (Off and On)
What is your drumming history:
Never have had lessons; Never played in or for a band; I wanted to play the drums for as long as I can remember, using anything I could to substitute a drum (metal garbage cans, pot and pan lids etc.) I wanted to be a percussionist in the school band, not play the flute, but the teacher wasn't havin' it. After showing interest, my parents gave me a drum pad and my first set of stix...pink stix. I still anticipated a drum set, and finally at age 14, I got a royal blue, vintage, 3 piece 'Rogers' drum kit, a vintage Ludwig snare, and a Sabian B8 hi-hat and 16" crash cymbal. I was in Heaven! I sat down and was able to instantly play the beat that had been in my head for forever, just waiting to come out onto some skins. I played religiously for a few years, and now I can say, I created a lot of sound for such a small kit, and got damn good (far better than I am now). As I started getting consumed with late-teen adolescence, I played them less and less, although I did graduate to a larger kit, and more cymbals. I then lived a few places for several years where I could not have my kit w/me, so my drumming habit came to an end, but I always missed it. I now have my own house, and FINALLY have my kit with me...right smack in, what's supposed to be, my dining room, and I can finally drum again. The only problem is that now, compared to before, I suck. I'm not near as fast as I used to be. It's going to take a lil' practice but I'll get it back.
That's herstory!
Describe Your Drum Kit:
Nothing fancy; It's a solid black, 4peice, 'Mapex' by PEARL, and the same old vintage Ludwig snare. I have a Sabian hi-hat and 16"crash, a Paiste 16" crash, and a Zildgian crash and medium ride.
I want: a trash cymbal, a splash cymbal, and I really need to get my double bass pedal that I've wanted for years now.
Favorite Drummer(s):
Tommy Lee (loved him since the 80's, and when that last couple of 'Motley Crue' tours came through my town, I polished up his kit before the show...I'm a local stagehand...it was kinda cool); Cindy Blackwell (cool chick drummer for Lenny Kravitz); Meg White of 'White Stripes' (talk about a lot of sound from a little, they're f 'n amazing); I gotta give props to Rick Allen from Def Leppard...playing drums with one arm in a rock band ...there's really no comparisson...literally; and we all know that Ringo rocked the world.
Favourite Bands/Musicians:
Smashing Pumpkins, Outkast, the Beatles, White Stripes, Audioslave, Stone Temple Pilots, the Doors, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Hendrix, Ben Harper, Chilli Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Beck, Blur, Twista, Velvet Revolver, the Cars, Ween, the Cure
