Hi Noni, Welcome, I also started drumming later on, I've been at it a little over two years now and I started when I was 45! I had been playing guitar for several years and always wanted to learn the drums too so I finally decided to and am really enjoying it! I enjoy playing along with songs and it almost seems like I can get into the music more playing the drums than the guitar. Did you get your kit yet? Have a good one, Tracy
Noni,
Welcome to the site. I think you'll find many of us who started "late". Not sure anyone started quite as old as I did, but it's worked out for me. Won't admit to my age, but I've got 14 grandkids which'll give you an indication that I haven't seen 30 in a while! I've been taking lessons just over 2 years. I think I'm the world's slowest learner. But I'm in a Blues & Classics band and I do see improvements, so I'm sticking with it. We've started playing out around town. There's some awesome talent in my band and I'm happy to be in the middle of the music instead of watching from the audience. I love that there's so much to learn - doesn't seem like I could possibly learn it all, but that's good - always something new to shoot for. I'm also lucky that my husband's there for most of our practices and is really getting into the mixing board - we have our built in roadie and sound man! That helps because I am most definitely addicted to these drums and he thinks it's funny but he's on board with it.
What kind of drumming are you into right now? Rock? Funk? Jazz? Blues?
Keep drumming - it's the best!

Hi Noni-I often watch YouTube, and though I find the child drumming wizzes interesting, it's almost a given that they learn so quickly and easily. I'm more impressed with the adults drummers who can lay it down, in spite of the fact that they're older and probably have a lot more going on in their lives that can keep them from practicing as much as they'd like. It's good that you're playing, and I hope that you enjoy the kit you're planning to buy. Welcome to the site!-Jessica G.

Profile Information
How long have you been drumming?
several months
What is your drumming history:
When most were learning to drum early in school, I was on all my school dance teams, but have always been fascinated by drumming. Fast forward to school and more school, family and so on.....to recently, Guitar Hero! (don't pick at me). It was apparent early on that I was playing more than my kids and was pretty good, so I decided to start lessons several months ago. One of the best decisions ever!!!! Already a music lover, to be "in" the music when playing feels like home. Would love to find others that started later like me.
Describe Your Drum Kit:
Hoping to buy a 4 or 5-piece Sound Percussion set this week!
Favorite Drummer(s):
?uestLove, Cindy Blackman, Travis B, my drum teacher (Mark)
