"Yeah, that's really cool about the double bass technique. Sounds like you have a good grasp on how to go about teaching yourself. That's pretty much the way I did it too. I would practice and practice and practice. It takes a lot to master…"

How long have you been drumming?
10 years
What is your drumming history:
I developed a passion for music very early on in my life. I've always been drawn to the drums because I found they moved me in a way no other instrument could. So, in 2001, I decided to teach myself how to play the drums.

My first group, Bland (alternative/indie rock), played together from 2001-2009. During this time, we wrote and recorded 5 studio albums. We opened for numerous national and local acts, some of which included: Sugarcult, Stroke 9, The Bangkok Five, Hotspur, Jealously Curve, etc. Bland was featured in California based magazine, Synthesis. I was featured in the "New Blood" section of DRUM! Magazine, issue #124 of October 2006.

I also played with alternative rock group The Resonators of Shepherdstown, WV from 2008-2010. Our full-length album, "Black Diamond," can be heard in it's entirety and downloaded at http://yourresonation.bandcamp.com/album/black-diamond.

I am currently planning to work with long-time friend and ex-Bland bandmate, singer/songwriter, Jeremiah Pepper from The Daylight Masquerade on an album he plans to release in late 2011. He has some amazing music in the works and I am so excited and honored to be working with such a talented guy.

Music will always be the biggest part of my life. It encapulates my whole being.

With that said, I recently decided to move to Portland, OR to pursue my musical dreams. I figure, this will be a great place and opportunity for me to meet other musicans and like-minded people. I am confident that I'll find what I'm looking for in Portland, or at least get a great start at something fantastic.
Describe Your Drum Kit:
Currently, I am using a five piece Tama Rockstar Custom Kit with Zildjian cymbals (A Custom Mastersound 14' Hi-Hats, K Custom Dark Crash 16' and 17', and A Custom 20' Projection Ride), an Iron Cobra Double Pedal, a Pork Pie "Little Squealer" snare and custom made throne with Pro-Mark sticks.
Favorite Drummer(s):
Dave Grohl, Jimmy Chamberlin, Travis Barker, Abe Cunningham
Favourite Bands/Musicians:
Smashing Pumpkins, Coheed and Cambria, Muse, Deftones, Third Eye Blind, Death Cab for Cutie, The Cranberries, Sublime, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, PIXIES, Elliott Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel, Built to Spill, Marcy Playground,We Are Scientists, Kings of Leon

Im a composer... http://www.myspace.com/devilsplain check it out(these are my songs), I also hv 7 more but It would be hard for me to make the drums so I come to ask If U would join me in this project, The name would be "On The Line". Te project: Its an online band(u and me) We make the music together, U record the drums and send it to me or vive e versa. I seems crazy but The crazy ideas are the ones that go right!! marcos_duda_silva@hotmail.co.uk its my facebook and my msn, any doubts!? We can talk it over. Cheers

Hi Joni,
I wanted to let you know that I am learning to double kick. A technique that I have been doing now for the past month. I know you double kick because I look at your profile of your drum setup. I also bought a DW5000 double kick pedal which I will use from time to time. Right now, I'm doing my right foot on the drum pedal and my left foot on the floor for practicing purposes to get used to the method. I'm self teaching on this technique which I hope to suceed.

Hi Joni,

We're looking for a female drummer in your area who rocks for an all female band. Influences include Pantera, Type O Negative, Alice in chains, Deftones, etc.  We've got management already, a business plan, and plan to make a profitable career out of doing exactly what we love to do - making music and rocking your face. If you're interested, hit us back at a.gibson@bloodhammer.net for more info. Hope to hear from you soon!
