Drummergirl

(obviously I have some time on my hands during work hrs to post)

I've had a couple of auditions recently that could require me to go on tour nationally/international. I have a day job and with our nations economy sooooo bad right now I have to seriously consider what happens when I come back from a tour and may not be able to find another job or tour again quickly. I do share rent and have a small savings but that can go real fast in Los Angeles county in a year or less. I can see from craigslist ads that most musicians try to teach (which I already do) and just try to get any gig/job they can. It seems really hard out there!

First: How long were you on tour?

Was the pay per day ok or less than you expected?

If you had a day job before you left were you able to return to that job? If no...

Any major problems? Did you really enjoy the band/artist you worked with?

Did you drive or fly to your destinations?

Any other info you'd like to share. Thx ladies.

Hiya Jaye,
I've been touring with my 2 bands for 6+ yrs averaging about 4-5 tours a year from 4 days to a month. So far all our tours have been in USA and have been amazing. Well, since we are not signed we all of us quit our jobs and just went for it and dealt with jobs when we got back. However, we were sponsored and had guarantees for most places and days off we hit the open mics with tip bucket and did really well. We also traveled pretty cheaply staying with friends and the tour basically paid for itself. Make sure to bring enough merch though...we ran out the first 10 days and were shocked but we learned our lesson. We drove to all our gigs and we're weird...we love our in between city drives.
Good luck girl and have fun!
