Drummergirl

Hi Everyone,
I am wondering what drum thrones you are using. I find many drum thrones to be a little uncomfortable ergonomically. The comparison I have is how men's bike seats just don't feel right. Often I feel like they are built with men's butts in mind, but are not really suited for women. Sometimes it feels it can impede my performance if its too distracting. Have any of you experienced this and what thrones have you used that have worked? I am considering building my own just to resolve this problem...

Thanks.

i like pork pie thrones, personally. i am also often told that i have a black girls booty . . i am not sure what that means. however, haha, i find them really comfortable and form fitting after you have used them for a while. they are rather large compared to most drum thrones so even if you have yourself a prominent behind, they should suit you just fine! (:

back rests can also be applied to the seat if one likes or not.
I have a Roc N Soc bike seat with back support. Sometimes it feels okay. Other times, it feels too big and I have scooch up to the edge to get clearance under my legs. I have had it for about 3 years and wonder if the foam is starting to lose it. Cosmetically it looks fine but the fit isn't right. Some thrones I feel like I am sitting on top of a hill and am not quite balanced to free up movement in my legs and feet. I am 5'2' so have had to make adjustments to suit my size. I am thinking of trying the Roadster (Pearl) - they have a short model or the Porkpie. The back rest on the Roc and Soc is great for those long gigs.
Hi DKO

I found the best drum throne I have ever used about a year ago. I was having trouble with the top of my legs sometimes going numb plus, I wanted one that was very cushiony yet not too much.
I use the Pearl D2000 Roadster throne & absolutely love it!! Best I've ever used!!
Check it out here: http://www.pearldrum.com/Products/Hardware/Drum-Thrones/D-2000.aspx

Hope this helps,

Wow, I just checked the link out and that is brilliant. It has room for your pelvic bone.
Hey Kim, what's the height on this Pearl Roadster throne?  I've looked around but can't find specs anywhere.  I am also looking for a lower throne, but I love this design, and of course that it's Pearl.  I'm 4'8" and I'm not far from finding a first act throne and putting a bicycle seat on it.
I use pork pie i find thm the best 4 me
I have a roc n soc...and my thighs go numb. I think its configured for a guys butt. Its too wide and long...its a nice thick seat but if you don't have a good sized booty, I would not recommend it. :(
I concur, it is hard to find the right feel. I was using the "ergo" bicycle Tama with a backrest. It was a bad move because the backrest was too far back as if more suited for a man. I leaned back on it anyway which resulted in bad posture while playing. Now I am back to using my first throne which is a cheapy round seat... for now at least until I find something better.
I bought Pearl's Roadster online, thinking it would be fantastic. Unfortunately, I'm only 5'1" and I couldn't lower the seat enough. So now I'm playing with my 7 year old son's First Act kid's throne. It works!

Good to know because I am only 5'2". I hope you were able to return the throne. Those suckers are expensive.
Hey girl, ive have a throne seat for about a year. its the best thing that ive ever had. The standerd seat that most begginers use is jus relly hard and uncomfortable. I have a Roc n Soc. I love it. It spins a whole 360, has a back, like you said you are 5'1, i myself am also, this seat will move up and down to fit your hiegth. any questions jus ask.
I'm looking it up now. Thanks! It would be nice to have a "big girl" throne that fits me. :-)
