Why did you start to play? And why did you start to play drums?

i start because i was unhappy and i needed something to give me power and self-esteem. I chose drums because one my classmate who play drums ask me (he was joking) if i want to bring lessons from him, and i take this thing seriously!! And then drums are considerate not so good for a girl, and i wanted to be different and particular from the other girls

Drums really have that pull on some of us, don't they? Like they single us out and call our name "Yo - you there. Been waiting for ya!" (sorry - early mornings do that to me!). But it still surprises me when I'm talking about playing the drums and someone has that glazed look on their face that says, "have no clue why you're going on about a bunch of loud, jangly metal." And I'm thinking "how could you NOT be excited about drumming?" Of course that's also reassuring because that leaves more drumming opportunities for me :)

Back in Yr10 or so, I would watched some of my classmates in music class play the drums. It was awesome. Performances at school fairs rocked as well. I finally decided that I wanted to learn. I've always had an ear for the beat and I like the strength and satisfaction you get from playing.. .

My dad was a drummer in his younger days, so maybe it runs in the family! But what made me want to play was hearing the likes of Lars Ulrich, Philthy Animal Taylor and Dave Lombardo, and I used to try and "air drum" to their records! I have only realised my dream of owning my own kit about six months ago and I love it. I work full-time which doesn't give me much time to practice but whenever I can, I do. My boyfriend is also a budding bass player and we'd love to get a band going someday.
